The Reverend Paul Buchmann

Fr. Paul BachmannFather Bachmann is a licensed priest in the DOW, ACA. He can be reached at PaulBach@shaw.ca or 780-487-7551 (Edmonton, Alberta). Father Bachmann travels from Edmonton, Alberta to offer sacramental visits as often as possible.

The Reverend Paul Bachmann is a native of New York. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Comparative Religion from the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado, and his seminary training from The Institute of Theology, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City. Prior to that he served six years in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour in Viet Nam.

In January of 1979 he went north to Canada, to serve in the Diocese of The Arctic, Anglican Church of Canada, and was ordained a Deacon and Priest (December 3, 1980) in that Diocese. During his sixteen years as a missionary in the Arctic, Fr. Bachmann was the Priest-in-Charge of two parishes and appointed Regional Dean of The Arctic Coast. He learned to speak and conduct services in the Eskimo language (Inuinnaqtun), and traveled on the barren lands to distant outstations and missions. He was known as 'Tunu Minihita', 'Tunu the Minister'.

While in Great Whale River, Arctic Quebec, he met and married Ann Marie Sidon, who was an educator with the Cree School Board. They shared the Parish ministry for twenty years and Ann Marie was instrumental in building up and maintaining the missions where they served. It was not unusual for her to accompany Fr. Paul on his pastoral visits to the outstations on ski-doo and sled, camping, hunting and fishing as they went.
Fr. Bachmann and Ann Marie now live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where they own and operate Life Enhancement Services, Inc., providing complimentary medicine and educational services. They have three children ranging from teenager to mid-twenties. They joined the Anglican Church in America, Diocese of the West three years ago, and Fr. Bachmann makes regular Sacramental and Pastoral visits to St. George's.
